2019 HMR Summer Riding Camps

  • Half Day Camp 9am - 12pm or 1pm - 4pm
  • Full Day Camp 9am -4pm
  • Prices include overnight board for your own horse (please bring your own feed) or use of a school horse
  • Half day camps include one riding session, theory, groundwork and stable management
  • Full day camps include two riding sessions, theory, groundwork and stable management
  • Riders wishing to test for Equine Canada English or Western Rider levels must be members of the Saskatchewan Horse Federation (www.saskhorse.ca)
  • Bring snacks, lunch, water bottle, change of clothes, helmet, riding boots, a smile and a great attitude!!!

Beginner Riders Camp

For youth with limited or no horse experience.

Each camper is supplied a lesson horse for the week. All tack and equipment including helmets is supplied .Riders must wear boots with heels. OR you can bring your own horse and equipment.

Kids will learn to catch and lead a horse, safety when working around horses, tying a quick release knot, grooming, tacking up, basic riding position and control at walk and trot, bathing a horse, parts of the horse and equipment, cleaning a stall, colors and markings of horses, how to communicate effectively with horses on the ground and on horseback, games on horseback and on the ground. .

Working towards Rider 1 certification

Western Camp

Work towards completion of Rider 1, 2 or Rider 3certification. Trail horse, Western Pleasure, Horsemanship, Reining, speed events, Ranch sorting, stable management. Bring your own horse or use a school horse. Board for your horse is included in the camp price.

English Camp

A must for English riders wanting to challenge the Rider exams!!!! Pleasure, Equitation, Hacks, Gymnastics, lines, courses, seeing distances, stable management.

Novice and Intermediate Riders Camp

Work towards completion of Rider 1 or Rider 2 certification. English or Western or simply improve your confidence and skills. Learn to canter, posting diagonals, canter leads, turns, patterns, trail riding, stable management. Bring your own horse or use a school horse.
